We will advise you on obtaining a suitable residence permit. The basis for its issuance may be the availability of capital or the desire to engage in certain activities in this country. There are different types of residence rights in Austria. Here are the main ones:

All of the listed residence permits are initially issued for one year, after which they are renewed again for a year and then for three years. After that, you can apply for a long-term residence permit.

Obtaining citizenship is possible after six years of continuous residence in the country.

Residence permit without the right to work (“Private visa”)

The prerequisite for obtaining it is the applicant’s particularly advantageous financial position (monthly permanent income, such as a domestic or foreign pension, business income earned abroad, income from assets, deposits or securities). For 2014, the amount of required income was 1715.16 euros per month for one person and 2572.06 euros for married couples. For each child, the amount increases by 265.70 euros. In addition, when applying, you must provide proof of knowledge of the German language. This residence permit will allow you to live in Austria without the right to work. Its issuance also depends on the availability of quotas, which complicates the process, since the number of quotas varies every year.

blue card

This residence permit is most suitable for scientists. Its advantage is the absence of quotas and the need to confirm knowledge of the German language before entering the country. The minimum wage should be around 47,000 euros per year before taxes.

Red-white-red card

This residence permit is issued to highly qualified professionals (“key labor force”) for self-employment or non-self-employment. There is a catalog of criteria, according to which each applicant must score a certain number of points. This residence permit is suitable for you if you have in mind a specific job in Austria that matches your qualifications and in which your salary will be at least 2265 euros per month before taxes (if you have not yet reached the age of thirty age) or 2718 euros (if you are already thirty years old). The advantage of this residence permit: the absence of quotas and the need to confirm knowledge of the German language before entering the country.

Residence permit for students

After enrolling in one of the accredited private or public universities, institutes or other institutions of higher education (see the Law on Higher Education in Austria of 2005) young people have the opportunity to obtain a residence permit for students.
